Recognized by the St. Louis Landmark Association as one of 11 "Most Enhanced Buildings" in 2006, the Alexander Lofts offers
well-designed, elegant living in the heart of the city.
Alexander Lofts
The Alexander Lofts at 1121 Locust Street provides a supreme residential location in the heart of the downtown St. Louis
Loft District.
New City Neighborhood Redevelopment, LLC headed up the $5 million redevelopment of the Alexander Lofts and the neighboring
Spool Thread Building. The Alexander Lofts features luxury residential lofts while the Spool Thread Building offers
loft-style office condos. A two-level, 20-space underground parking garage and a gated seven-space surface parking lot
connects the two buildings.
Features and Amenities
The Alexander Lofts boasts eight luxury residential condos and first-floor retail space. The original red brick late 19th
and early 20th century revival style of the 25,885-square-foot Alexander Lofts building was preserved, and new electric,
plumbing, mechanical, sprinklers and security systems were added. First floor retail space is occupied by Salt of the Earth,
which offers unique works of art by European and Mexican artisans.
Loft amenities include exposed brick accent walls, open loft-style floor plans with optional partitions, high ceilings,
maple floors, oversized energy efficient and historically accurate windows, and an exterior balcony. The kitchens feature
stainless steel and wood cabinets and granite counter tops.
The bedrooms include two large walk-in closets with custom designed storage systems, master bath with walk-in shower, rain
shower and hand-held shower heads. Each loft purchase includes two indoor underground parking spaces, with access
controlled residential entry and lobby. The access controlled elevators open directly into each loft, providing direct,
private access.
The adjacent Spool Thread Building is the first office-condo development in downtown St. Louis. The Spool Thread Building
was built in 1904 as the former home to the Spool Cotton Company, one of the giants in the cotton thread industry. The
19,235 square foot building was rehabbed for four office condos with the first floor as retail space, occupied by Blend, an
antique and vintage home furnishings store.
