Edison Condominiums

400 South 14th Street Edison Brothers Warehouse : 1928

Located at the corner of 14th and Spruce, this landmark was originally built as a distribution center for J. C. Penney Company in 1928. It was donated to the University of Missouri in the 1960's, and eventually leased to the Edison Brothers Store in 1967. Edison Brothers commissioned Richard Haas of New York to cover three sides of the building in a trompe l' oeil mural depicting world's fair themes.

When the 13 story building closed in 1994, it was then targeted for renovation. The building is now home to the Sheraton St. Louis City Center Hotel & Suites as well as luxury condominiums on the 9th to 12th floors. The condos range from the low $270 to the $420's. There is a private secured garage for owners who maintain a car and secure access elevators for condo owners.

Condo owners can also take advantage of the hotels 3 restaurants, which include a 10,000 square foot sports bar and grill with a three-season outdoor patio, an upscale steak/seafood restaurant and a café. The hotels services and facilities are also available to condo owners, and include a 20,000 square foot fitness center, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, rooftop deck, mini-market, gift shop, catering and room service.

Location couldn't be better with the MetroLink light rail system directly across the street, one block from Savvis Sports & Entertainment Center, 5 blocks from historic Union Station, and 6 blocks from Busch Stadium, the home of St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

Already, about 30 of the 40 condominiums on the top two floors of the building have been sold. 80 units are planned for the building. Again, these are not lofts, but luxury condominiums. You won't find freight elevators, open space and exposed pipes here.
