A $32 million loft apartment project, to be called the Soulard Market Apartments, is underway in the building best known as the Welsh Baby Carriage Factory. The building opened as the Hamilton-Brown Shoe Factory, and was also known as the "sunshine factory" because of the number of windows. 132 one- and two-bedroom loft style apartments are planned for the building. Rents will range from about $775 to $1,200 a month. Apartment features will include 14 to 16 foot ceilings, exposed brick and a lot of exposed wood beams. The building will also include an outdoor swimming pool.
