American Bed Factory/Western Wire Products
The 14.5 million-dollar WireWorks rehab project opened its 150,000 square foot
residential, office and retail complex in October 2001. The development, which
takes up an entire city block, is part of the historic Lafayette Square neighborhood
and originally home to the American Bed Factory, and later, Western Wire Works. The
loft apartments include 80 upscale loft apartments, which range from 800 square feet
to just under 1,700 square feet and incorporates many of the distinctive architectural
features of the old wire plant, including open beam ceilings.
Adjoining the complex is a restaurant, bar and market place called SqWires. The upscale
bar and market features upscale dining, entertainment and provisions, and room service
to WireWorks tenants.
